Rotunda Gallery – Kitchener City Hall
Sabrine S. Hakam is a visual artist whose work addresses themes of identity, representation, and cultural dynamics. She explores the nuanced layers of self and society, using symbolic portraiture to engage viewers in conversations about power and visibility.

Power in Portraits features selected pieces from a larger series and is a creative project that uses portraiture to explore different facets of BIPOC, postcolonial, and Third Culture identities. As an art form, portraits demand we consider not only how we see ourselves but also how we wish to represent ourselves to the world. Therefore, power exists in the freedom and ability to control our representation.
